Marketing Introduction:
South Africa has a population of nearly 50 million, with a per capita GDP of about $6,000-7,000, belonging to the middle-income countries, and the healthcare expenditure accounts for 8.5% of the GDP. South Africa is China's largest trading partner in Africa, and China is also South Africa's largest trading partner. 2010 China's exports of medical equipment to South Africa reached more than 500 million U.S. dollars, with South Africa's accession to the BRICS organisation, and the further strengthening of trade relations with China, Chinese companies will get more opportunities. With the rapid growth of South Africa's GDP, the government will further increase its investment in healthcare, and there will be more business opportunities in the South African medical market. So far, South Africa has not established a perfect medical equipment industry system, most of the medical equipment and hospital equipment need to be imported from overseas. Due to the international market in recent years, the price of gold and jewellery-grade diamonds have been at record highs, which has led to a surge in South Africa's fiscal revenue, thus providing a reliable financial guarantee for large-scale purchases by the South African government.
Among the countries that export medical equipment to South Africa are mainly developed countries in Europe and the United States, as well as China. From South Africa also exports medical equipment to other parts of Africa, such as Africa, Europe, Australia and Asia, South Africa's exports are mainly disposable medical supplies, such as bandages, syringes, needles, gauze, catheters. Due to the international price of gold and diamonds and other products, so that the South African treasury has more money to invest in health care, in recent years, South Africa's imports of medical products reached nearly 2 billion U.S. dollars, is a very huge market.
South Africa does not impose duties on most imported medical equipment products. However, for some hospital laboratories with bulk low-value consumables, including plastic blood sample tubes, urine sample bottles, latex gloves, etc., as well as surgical gowns, surgical towels, bed sheets, medical cover cloth and other non-woven products, a variety of rigid or flexible plastic catheters, transfusion / transfusion of plastic bags, plastic infusion bottles and their connection with the tubes, needles, and other disposable plastic medical products, levy the equivalent of the total value of the product 10% of the Tariffs.
